Top of the Rock Antenna

To improve and update the communication capabilities in Gibraltar a new Antenna was required.  The location for this new equipment was to be at the very top of the Rock of Gibraltar!

As the only company with the specialist plant and capability to operate in the remote and logistically challenging location, Rock Foundations (Gibraltar) was asked to mobilise and install 40 rock socketed anchors.

For the more simplistic element of the works a Kitten rig was mobilised to the concrete hard standing adjacent to the position required for the new antenna. With the rotary capability of the piece of equipment we were able to penetrate the hard rock surface using a DTH hammer and a 95mm cutting head.

For the more challenging anchor locations, where no suitable platforms were available, we were able to position the Stand Up Rig and install the remaining anchors.
