Retaining Solution Benalmádena

A challenging and demanding construction site high above the beach at Benalmádena where the client required a large scale excavation to enable the construction of a new apartment block.

In order to safely excavate this material a new retaining solution would need to be installed to protect the neighbouring properties as well as the road to the front of the site.

Rock Foundations (SL) mobilised the Klemm 806 to install 80 drill bar piles. 300mm steel piles were constructed and installed to a depth of 18m to achieve the overall solution. To supplement and give additional restraint to these contiguous piles, three lines of anchors were installed.

All of the piles were filled with a structural grout pumped under pressure down through the steel reinforcement tube.  The piles were cut to level and incorporated in a capping beam allowing the bulk excavation to proceed safely.
